Why a video?
Part of the baptism process is recording your testimony on video. People often ask if the video is a requirement. If you want to be baptized at Grace, then the answer is yes. Since baptism is a public proclamation of your faith in Christ, we feel that the video gives you the opportunity to share what you really want to say. One advantage to recording your testimony is that it gives you the chance to be intentional about your words--and if you mess up, you have the chance to fix it!
How should I prepare?
Some people find it helpful to write out their story before they come in to record their video. We encourage that, but we want you to come in ready to share and not just read or recite a memorized script. We will work with you through the process to help you clearly communicate your thoughts on camera.
We will ask you two main questions: 1) How did you come to faith in Christ? and 2) Why do you want to be baptized? We want you to share your story of how God has worked in your life. We want to know how you came to the point of trusting Christ. Share what your life was like before--and what has changed. Most importantly, tell us what God did to deal with your sin.
In all of that, ask yourself the question, "Why am I being baptized?" Your video testimony is something God will use to move those who will witness your baptism. It is the story of what God has done in your life.
What should I wear?
Wear what you would wear to a regular church service, keeping in mind the following doesn't work well on video:
