SimpleServing

SimpleServing - Simple Serving

In Greenville County, 25,000 individual are either homeless or under resourced and more than one third are children who have no choice in their circumstances.  Families have to choose between food and other daily needs - gas, heat, etc.  During your next trip to the grocery store, remember people in our community who are struggling in these difficult times.  Let's take food out of the equation.

Grace Church and North Hills Community Church are partnering to collect the food items which will be donated to four area food banks.  Bring your bag back, filled with as much as you can donate, to any campus on March 13th and 14th and experience life change through a simple act of service.

Boxes fo Love Flash Slide - Boxes of Love

Thanks to everyone who helped makee this year's Boxes of Love a great success!  A total of 250 boxes were given to families at Monaview and Spearman Elementary schools and to some families here at Grace.  Whatever part you played in the effort (financial, counseling, or just general help) - THANK YOU!  Take a moment and look at some of the pictures from the two schools this part Saturday.

The Gardens at Eastside

The Gardens is an assisted living facility with approximately 75 residents. Located on Roper Mountain Extension, the community is only three miles from Grace Church on Pelham. There are many ways to serve at the Gardens:

P.A.L.S | People Actively Loving Seniors - Commit to a one on one relationship with a resident to share life, encouragement, and the hope of the gospel. A family or individual would pick the same time per week to visit for 30 minutes. This visit could be as simple as taking a walk and talking with the resident, sharing stories, or playing a game like checkers or UNO.

PenPals - This would be a commitment to writing a letter to a resident at the Gardens once a week, allowing a resident to get to know you and your family.

Birthday Club - A Community Group would commit to a specific month, and be responsible for honoring each resident individually who is celebreating a birthday during that month.  Each resident would receive a special card and/or gift. Currently residents are recognized as one of many who are celebrating a birthday that month.

Saturday Activities - Lantana, the Alzheimer's/Dementia unit at the Gardens is in need of families and individuals to come and sing, read, do crafts, pass out snacks, etc. These residents sit in one common room most of the day, are not very mobile, and do not leave often.

Sunday Servers - Grace Church currently has four teams that take turns offering teaching and worship every week. Two of those teams currently need pianists who are familiar with traditional hymns, to commit to serve with them one Sunday each month.

Downtown

Each year our student ministry spends one week solely focused at being “salt and light” in our local community. In conjunction with various ministries, students from 5th – 12th grade spend time serving, loving and growing through a wide variety of ministry opportunities. The goal of this trip is to expose our students to the needs and opportunities that exist in the same city they call home. Our desire is that this week of exposure will result in long-term involvement for our church and an expanded world-view for all those involved. We have a passion for the people of Greenville and believe that God has charged us to further his kingdom here. Over the years we have been involved with Monaview Elementary School, The Boys and Girls Club, The Frazee Dream Center, Triune Mercy Center, The Gardens and Camp Spearhead.
